Mio GPS controllers are small programs that allow your GPS device to communicate with the software of your operating system. Maintaining updated Mio GPS software prevents failures and maximizes equipment and system performance. Step 1 - Open the web browser of the computer and navigate to the Mio Store site. Click on the "Maps" link, followed by the "Unlock additional maps" link. Select your device from the "Select a device" window, and click on the map you would like to unlock. Once you enter your billing info you can easily download the activation key of the Mio GPS.
Step 2 - Place in the Mio More Desktop DVD that came with the Mio GPS device into the computer's DVD drive. Install the program and remove the DVD from the unit.
Step 3 - Connect the Mio GPS device to the computer through the USB cable that came with it.
Step 4 - Open the Mio More Desktop program. Press the "My maps" icon.
Step 5 - Insert the map DVD that came with your GPS device into the DVD drive of the computer.
Step 6 - Click on the map for which you purchased the activation key from Step 1.
Step 7 - Enter the map activation key when prompted.
Step 8 - Click on the map again after it has been activated. Disconnect the Mio GPS device from the computer.
